Year 4 Maths Challenge Spring 2

Hi year 4,

This half term’s maths challenge is based around fractions.

BRONZE

Solve the following:
4/11 + 5/11=
5/6 + 1/6 =
3/8 + 3/8 =
7/10 – 3/10=
8/12 -3/12=
3/4-1/4 =

SILVER

Use the fraction wall to help you solve the equivalent fraction questions.

    1) 4/11+5/11=9/11
    2) 5/6+1/6=6/6 or 1 whole
    3) 3/8+3/8=6/8
    4) 7/10-3/10=4/10
    5) 8/12-3/12=5/12
    6) 3/4-1/4=2/4
    Silver:
    1) 1/2=2/4
    2) 1/3=3/9
    3) 1/2=6/12
    4) 2/6=4/12
    5) 1/4=3/12
    6) 2/3=4/6
    7) 1=4/4
    8) 3/6=1/2
    9)4/6=8/12
    Gold:
    Eliza is correct because there are 8 yellow shapes out of 12 shapes all together however what Josie did was she didn’t count how many shapes there were in total she only counted one type of shapes which were yellow triangles.🤗

    Gold:Elizabeth is correct because there are 2shaped and 8yellow so it would be 8/12
    Platinum:
    I don’t agree with tiny because yes 4/4=1 but 5/4 doesn’t equal 2 6/4 definitely doesn’t eaqual 3
