My prediction is that he will feel 60% exited because he is really good at engineering and he could win £1 million and become a millionaire and he feels 40% sad because if he loses the bet he would have to lose lots of money on paying the Colonel meals for the rest of his life!

    “exclaimed”, “muttered”, “gasped”, “bet”
“We can’t get around the world in 80 days!” exclaimed Passepartout.
“We can go around the world in 80 days, and I’ll prove it,” muttered Phileas under his breath.
It was only a matter of time until they gasped, “Oh No! Our plane is BROKEN!”
Fogg said, “I will bet £20,000 that I can travel this world!”
    Silver
Fogg feels confident because the text does not indicate that Fogg is feeling any other emotion and in the second to last line of the text, the text for Phileas is showing exclamation marks. As he is instructing Passepartout to pack up, there is no emotion showing as if he was not feeling surprised or frightened but rather as he is feeling happy .
