1R Science Week

This week we have been working towards answering this question:

Which sense is most important when playing sports?

We built upon what we already knew about our bodies and senses to help us learn even more!

Firstly, we drew around our friends and labelled the body parts that we already knew.

Nathan taught us that your heart is the same size as your fist! How interesting!

We loved learning outside and there were so many giggles, alongside some fantastic discussions. The children had an excellent knowledge of the human body and gained from each other!

We sang Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes (one of little Lilian’s favourites) and thought about how this helped us to learn knew words when we were toddlers.

We then created our own version using different body parts. Here is our performance!

We made careful observations of our eyes and created some beautiful drawings!

We explored our senses in different ways…

Friday – Sport and Senses

Today we explored different senses in PE. In golf, we played without touch, in football we played without sound and in skipping we played without our sight. We saw how valuable these senses are in these activities.

We also played some adapted sports. We played sitting volleyball, goal ball and boccia. These are activities that have been adapted so that people without certain senses can also take part. Here is what we did.
