I think chocolate is not allowed because it is bad for your health and can also cause death if you eat to much sweets or chocolate then it will lead to a sugar rush and the more you eat and like it I will be a chance you will be a addict and eat the same thing everyday maybe your allowed chocolate in the end of the year or a reward not everyday. -What i did (Bijan)

Also, chocolate is high in sugar and saturated fat. It is a high-energy (high calorie) food, and too much can result in excess weight, a risk factor for cardiovascular disease.
I know that it can make you fat. That’s a reason you shouldn’t eat it.

But everything is good in moderation? IF you are having a healthy lunch, surely a small piece of chocolate is a small percentage of you calorie intake?

I understand that chocolate is proven to make people feel positive (endorphins =happy hormones). These are scientifically deemed to lessen pain in situations (heart attacks) also decreases stress and act of anti-depressant. Also, the ingredients in chocolates are proven it to be a natural energy booster.
    ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

However, in my opinion I think we should not have chocolate in our revising sessions as it could disturb our learning and the children who eat many calories like chocolates are running the risk of cavities.

I think that chocolate should be allowed because it releases happy hormones and endorphins and Vitamin E, however it can also give you a feeling (stigma) and could also increase obesity and cavities it also can create chocolate stains whilst doing an test and I also consider, that it can reduce your concentration skills and is not suitable for our health one of the cons are to have is an heart disease coronary and sometimes it can make you way hyper-active and disturbs our learning. Overall, I think we should be allowed but only to have an moderate amount.

In my opinion, we should have chocolate we should have a moderate amount of chocolate as a treat but not each day as this really unhealthy unless we do minimum 1 hour of exercise per day. Chocolate is proven to make people feel positive(endorphins=happy hormones). However, chocolate have high fat content that can lead to diabetes or coronary heart disease. Also child obesity is already on the rise.

I disagree because chocolate contains a lot of fat and it can cause heart disease and diabetes. It has a high level of anti dioxide. It has main effect on causing memory decline and low cholesterols. Stress-blood-pressure regulation-and atherosclerosis. It has too much sugar to have before SATS even though it can give you a lot of energy it can also make you distracted. To much sugar= heart to beat faster.

I think we shouldn’t have chocolate because it’s not healthy for your stomach but only on Fridays we can have chocolate if you want to.
I think we should do exercise every per day and then you can chocolate if you want to. And another reason we shouldn’t have chocolate because chocolate has to much sugar it makes you have a sugar-rush.

Actually, the cocoa helps in weigh loss by improving mitochondrial biogenesis (cocoa without any added ingredients or sugar). Also,it increases muscle glucose by inserting it in skeletal muscle membrane. It’s antioxidants properties offers neutron protection and gives a positive moods.
The more healthiest and less chocolate you eat,it could help. In 2011,study found that 2 hours of dark chocolate improves memory more that white chocolate because of its high flavonoids supplement.

I disagree because In 2011 a study of young adults found that after 2 hours of consuming dark chocolate memory and reaction time was better than among those consuming whit chocolate which are low in flavonoids. However, other similar studies show no benefits, even though some suggest flavonoids in cocao are extremely beneficial, just not chocolate as a processed treat.

Increases heart health. The antioxidants in dark chocolate have been shown to lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of clotting and increase blood circulation to the heart, thus lowering the risks of stroke, coronary heart disease and death from heart disease.

I also disagree because chocolate can release stress and it contains magnesium and the consumption of chocolate can help supply the body. It can also help concentration and let the blood flow to the brain. It is believed that it releases endorphins meaning it can elevate your mood.

In my opinion I think we should have permission to eat chocolate in class. However it depends what chocolate it is, I don’t think white chocolate as it has to much sugar and can cause cavities if eaten in large amounts. On the other hand, I suggest dark chocolate as it only has a little caffeine in it but can still get you awake. There are other benefits such as decreasing chances of a stroke or heart attack and helping make platelets in the blood less sticky.

I personally suggest we should have a moderate amount of chocolate because chocolate releases endorphins (happy hormones) in our body, we can have a much more positive attitude towards learning and also a small piece of dark chocolate is proven to be healthy for your body. It can reduce heart attacks and diseases. Chocolate can also create more platelets in our blood, making our blood less sticky, leading to less blood clots. We also get lots of energy during the day by eating chocolate and children will produce outstanding work in our books. This is why I suggest that we should have chocolate during revision.

I personally disagree with you because Chocolate receives a lot of bad press because of it’s high fat and sugar content. It’s consumption has been associated with some of of these diseases: Acne, obesity, diabetes and coronary heart disease. Flavanols in cocoa beans antioxidant effects that reduce cell damage implicated in heart disease. 1 sugar cube is 4g of sugar and 16 calories.

I think that whether we have chocolate during revision is dependent on how the children behave. If we are all sensible, calm and hard working hard in a class then we should be allowed a small amount. For health benefits we could have small chocolate coated fruits eg: raisins. This all depends on the whole class/year group. Everyone in the class has to behave in order for this to happen, if we do not behave we could end up distracting others so it is better if everyone has it or nobody has chocolate.

Flavonoids (in chocolate) are the most abundant polyphenols, and can be beneficial to heart disease and maybe diabetes patients (in small quantities). Dark chocolate contains more cocoa and less sugar, which means dietary fibre and iron are plentiful.

The reason being is because it can cause high fat contents which can lead to diabetes or coronary heart disease.
Despite saying this, I think we can have chocolate but not on a daily basis but as a treat for all of our hard work.
However, chocolate is prone to melt which can cause a large distraction as it can lead to a large mess.
As well as this, chocolate is not the healthiest of option.
However, this can change to a more healthier option like fruit and carbohydrates.

It depends on howmuch we eat. One chocolate per SATS day can be allowed but not twice a day or once a test.

Chocolate consumption has been proven to argue that it has been associated with increased intelligence. In addition to this,it enhances brain plasticity while it is also a neuroprotective food.

Personally I don’t agree, this is because Cocoa and chocolate contain caffeine and other stimulants, like theobromine, which can impact a child’s development and nervous system. Also caffeine can reduce appetite, cause jitteriness, affect sleep, and exacerbate reflux. Not only this, children should not have chocolate during revision/SATS since it is a risk of diabetes. Eating large amounts might also cause nervousness, sleeplessness and a fast heartbeat which can cause children to not concentrate. -Alexis & Bijan

Chocolate is acceptable during revision but you must eat a small amount everyday to help for your brain to function. Scientists in 2011 ate dark chocolate and their brain after the experiment was much healthier and has increased intelligence.
