5 Blue – Mixing Materials

Today, we have been looking at different materials to see if they are soluble or insoluble. The materials we looked at were salt, sugar, flour, rice, sand, coffee, gravy and chalk.

  1. What does soluble mean?
  2. What was your independent variable?
  3. What was your dependent variable?
  4. What materials were soluble?

Solible is a solid the dissolves in a liquid e.g salt would dissolve in water.
Insoluble is a solid that does not dissolve in a liquid e.g sand does not dissolve in water.
My independent variable was using different items but my dependant variable was the water.
    The solible items were:
    There were no soluble object.
