We gesticulate because we need to add expression and emphasise our words when presenting.
Intonation is when we read the words clearly and the rise and fall of pitch in our words.

We gesticulate to add more emphasis to our words without using intonation or other ways of orally emphasising our words.
Intonation, however, is when one changes the way they are speaking to match something they are saying , e.g., a poem like “The Raven”.
