Arty’s Broken Heart – Lesson 2

Today we have been beginning to understand how illness and unhealthy lifestyles affect the heart. We started our lesson by creating drama adaptations of jaw dropping statistics! Take a look below:

Statistic Adaptations

We then continued our learning and discovered that unhealthy eating can lead to blockages within our arteries. The blockages are caused by something called Atherosclerosis. Could you explain what that is, in the comments, please?

We used whole class drama to represent the effects of Atherosclerosis on blood flow:

We then worked in pairs to create a dance piece. Which BH values did you have to use?

    What is Atherosclerosis?
Atherosclerosis is caused when your arteries get narrower and narrower, until they are eventually clogged with fat and cholesterol.Meaning that your arteries would not allow your blood to flow throughout your body giving oxygen when needed.Futhermore,Atherosclerosis can cause heart diseases such as Angina,Heart Attacks and High Blood Pressure.
    Atherosclerosis is caused when:
    -Having a lack of exercise.
    -Eating unhealthy.
    -Eating salty foods.
    -Stress
    -Smoking
    To avoid this we should:
    -Eat healthy.
    -Exercise daily.
    -Avoiding salty foods.
    -Do relaxing activities(avoiding stress).
    -And avoid smoking.

The Broad Heath values that we used during this lesson are Teamwork,Knowledge and Respect.

Atherosclerosis is when the arteries are blocked because of all the unhealthy food you eat, the less exercise you do, smoking, salty foods and many other stuff too. This makes the blood stop from getting through and reaching the heart and other organs. This may cause a heart attack,Angina or High blood pressure.

Atherosclerosis (pronounced as : ah-thuh-row-skluh-row-sus) a group of fat and cholesterol that makes the arteries narrower so less blood can flow through. This group of cholesterol and fat is called plaque (this makes blood flow through the arteries less).

    Atherosclerosis can be caused by:
    Lack of exercise
    Unhealthy diet
    Obesity
    Genetics
    Increasing age
    Smoking
Regularly drinking bad amounts of alcohol.

    Other conditions can be:
    Including high
    Blood pressure,
    High cholesterol
    Diabetes.

Atherosclerosis is when your arteries gets narrower because of cholesterol. The Atherosclerosis is made up of three parts which are: Angina, High Blood Pressure and Heart Attack. Furthermore, this can be caused by lack of exercise, genetic factors, salty food, unhealthy food, smoking and obesity.

Atherosclerosis, This is where your arteries are blocked and clogged with cholesterol and all other types of fats. This makes the blood unable to travel through the blood vessels. This can lead to choking since blood does carry oxygen. This is why excersise and diets and all other healthy categories are useful and necessary in our day to day basis.

Atherosclerosis is when your arteries are clogged with fat and cholesterol and blood can not pass through which means that the blood wont be able to carry oxygen around the body. This can be caused by genetics, poor diet or little exercise.
