Designing our very own flood proof house

In science, our focus has been flood proof buildings.

Last week children created a plan and designed their own house, adding elements to it, making it flood proof.

This week, children have started to create a 3D model of their flood proof house. They demonstrated strong teamwork and organisational skills, sharing responsibilities equally amongst their table team.

This can be seen in the pictures below:

How did you ensure that your design was flood proof?

    It was so fun!
I ensured that my house was flood proof because it was strong meaning that it can hold itself up.

I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed it Neda! What material did you use to ensure your model was strong?

I predict that my floodproof house will not flood because I used lollipop sticks for the inside and foil for the outside and 2 weeks ago we tested how strong and floodproof the materials where and two of the strongest materials where the foil and lollipop sticks.

I enjoyed making the floodproof houses because we got to get creative and think about all the features for a change.
