Health Week in 5 Blue.

For our last week of this Summer term, we have been learning about healthy living and the importance of this. Below is a daily insight into the activities we have participated in Health Week. Enjoy!

Monday– Today, we started our day off by completing physical exercises originated from Japan called Radio Taiso, which is a radio program where the Japanese take part in 10 minute warm exercises from 6:30 am every morning. It is aimed to improve the health of the public in Japan. After this we discussed the effects of mental, physical and emotional health and then went on to draw a self portrait, with one side of the face being normal and the other side with things associated with a healthy life style, including physically and emotionally.

Tuesday-Today, we started off by using our knowledge to plan three healthy Coronation street party dishes. We created posters to show the nutrition and cost of each meal. We then created a human life cycle and annotated the changes around each one. We also got to swim and develop on our back stroke techniques.

Wednesday- On this sunny Wednesday morning, 5 Blue started the day off with the Radio Taiso warm up. Following on from this we took part in a physical fitness Bingo game. If your counter is on an activity you donโ€™t need to do it, if you have no counter on that activity you will have to do it. If you get a full house you have WON!!!! We were lucky to get the opportunity to take part in a Flat Stanley First Aid workshop, where we learnt Dr ABC first aid techniques and were given the chance to practise our skills.

Thursday- To start our day off in 5 Blue, we looked at preparing a healthy dish called Hummus. This extraordinary dish was originated from the Middle East consisting of chickpeas, olive oil and garlic. We started off by designing a recipe card for this, which included pictures, ingredients, introduction paragraph and instructions. We then got to design healthy food packaging for our hummus. After this, we had the opportunity to make the humus and cut the vegetables to dip in it, it was delicious! In the afternoon, we took part in a mini marathon. Some of us managed to achieve 6 laps!

Friday- We started off our day by completing a survey on what we have enjoyed this week and what we have learnt. Then we asked the class different questions related to this weekโ€™s activities. In the afternoon we took part in many physical activities, such as Archery, Tag games and the outdoor gym. We got to learn different techniques for each activity and will carry this knowledge on to other activities. It was hot, but full of fun on our last day of term!

I really enjoyed Health Week, it was so fun. I liked when we did the Flat Stan First Aid. I also enjoyed when we got to do activities outside such as playing stuck in the mud, going on the outdoor gym and doing archery.
