Broad Heath this week had it’s first school council meeting of the year, have you all read the minutes?
What things would you like the school council to do this year? Think also about how we can get involved in local things and help others within the Foleshill/Coventry/UK/World community?

The school council are nice because to help everyone

Help the school to make progress
I think the school council should make breakfast club start at 8:15 so that I get more time to set up all the tables and toys 🤖.
I know the school councils are going to not let us down and be good and go to all meetings .
If iam a school council is that I can help everyone if is in danger
I would want more equipments and activities for after school clubs.
I would like to have more activates and more staff for breakfast club to start earlier.
I think we should have an area of trees for oxygen.
I would like school to have enough staff for the morning breakfast club. so that it could start earlier to than 08:00am.
Also would like the school to provide more option for after school activities.
We could start earlier but this would mean parents have to pay for it and we don’t have enough who are willing to do this.
I would like to add more to the playground and would like to add a variety of PE Options as I want to get more fit alongside my class. I would also like more experiments eg. In science and history.
We discussed the school council meeting together, as a class. We think it would be good to become more eco friendly and recycle more. We talked about friends on the playground and decided that no one should be left out or feel unhappy. We said that if we saw anybody alone, we would ask them to join us. We also think that buddies should be changed on a regular basis.
I agree, we waste a lot of things. I think school councilllors could lead on this.
As a class, we discussed the meeting notes and we came up with some suggestions of what the school council could achieve this year.
– We could create a scheme to tidy and clean the playground and other areas, maybe we could have more bins to prevent littering.
– We could help local nature.
– We could contribute to the City of Culture and improve our city that way.
– We could donate to a charity to help those far away.
Like the nature idea, we have lots of areas in school where we could develop.
We read the minutes as a class and shared our ideas.
Our school councillors Emil and Toleen talked about our ideas in the meeting.
Our school councillors could help new people who start our school so they know how to do things and where to go.
Water the plants in the biodome and do some gardening to help it grow.
Have some time with basketballs on the playground.
Help the classes to do some recycling of paper.
The bio dome needs people caring for it, so great ideas.

I can get involved with local things by helping the people pick litter up off the floor.

I agree- we have an eco dome which they could help run as well as recycling things in school…
I think the school council should make a place where visitors can come and sit down and relax like a visitor building .

I would like the school councils to add swings to the adventure playground (this has been asked a lot). Furthermore I would like the school council to help around , not just the school but also local areas around the school (like helping people in need). This year I am a school council so I will try and do the things what people request for.
The trouble with swings is that they use alot of space, if you can suggest a safe place perhaps I can support?
Maybe where the big swing and monkey bars used to be? (Outside year 2) but maybe there could some other things to play on not just the swings alone so it’s not random,singular to what we have on the adventure playground. However now there is a science pod there so perhaps that won’t be quite safe. Apart from that I can’t thing of anywhere else.

Yes we have a class discussion about the school council meeting and what we want to improve . We could help people like making them feel welcome .

I want the school councilers to work hard and make everyone feel happy
I would like the school council to share their ideas when other people are struggling and when other are arguing or hurt I also want them to guide people to do the right thing.
So should school councillors creat some blogs?
