Laws, rules or guidance sometimes change to
help keep us safe so we may have to alter the
way we do things. This week the PM said face masks must be worn in shops and public buildings. Do you agree with his actions?

    I think the PM made the right choice as some countries enter the red list and the coronavirus is still ongoing.

    3 Red discussed how coronavirus cases have recently increased and these guidelines are changing to help keep people safe. Myiesha says you should wear a mask to stop the spread of the virus. Zahra added this may help reduce the amount of people who get the virus. Joshua believes we shouldn’t wear face masks, everyone should just be vaccinated instead. 3 Red agrees that regardless of individual opinion on how to deal with the virus, we should always respect and follow the law of the government.

    3 White discussed that the PM needed to do this to keep us all safe. We agree that masks should be worn as it is a simple rule to follow to keep people safe. People have their own responsibility and duty to keep others safe so we think that this rule is fair. We need to protect the elderly and the vulnerable people in our community. The new variant of the virus is harmful so we need to be extra careful. We also spoke that covid 19 does not seem harmful to some, we talked about others in the community.

    In this instance 3 Blue agree with the PM actions as he is doing it to keep everyone in the country safe and to protect the vulnerable . The PM has imposed these restriction based on scientific evidence. However, we do not think he should change any guidance or rules for just any reason and he must be able to justify his actions.

    We discussed the new coronavirus variant (called omicron). We discussed how viruses can change and why new guidance and laws are brought in. We discussed how masks can help prevent covid. We discussed that there are always differences in opinion and had a vote in class to see if we agreed. However, we talked about how we need to act as a community to keep people around us safe.
