Testing Materials in Science

Today in our science lesson we tested different materials to see which may be suitable to build a shelter for Fantastic Mr Fox. We tested to see if the materials were rigid, strong, warm, opaque and waterproof. We then recorded our findings in a table. Please watch a video to see our findings.

What properties do you think a suitable shelter material needs to have?
Would paper be a suitable material for a shelter? Explain your answer.

I think that wood is the best material for our shelter because it is strong and can be water proof sometimes it is also opaque.
Paper would not be good because it is not water proof or it is not very strong.

Metal should be more suitable material for a shelter because it is waterproof…
