We/I learnt that the Mayan’s were one of the first civilisations to be on the earth and that they also lived on Mexico.
As well as they made ancient monuments so the world could remember them.
The Mayan’s had many gods which they praised; to please their gods (them) they offered sacrifices which were (include): offering hearts of people, gouging peoples eyes out and giving blood as their submission.

What skills did you use in the lesson today?
The skills we used in the lesson were: our researching skills( to search who Frederick Catherwood is), our skills on a four figure reference grid/ four reference grid/ four figure grid reference/ four grid reference and our retrieval skills (by researching and writing facts down/ on our books).

      Who was Frederick Catherwood?
Frederick Catherwood was an English artist, architect and explorer, best remembered for his meticulously detailed drawings of the ruins of the Maya civilization. He explored Mesoamerica in the mid 19th century with writer John Lloyd Stephens. Stephens and Catherwood were credited for the rediscovery of the Maya civilization, and through their publications brought the Maya back into the minds of the Western World.
