#UKPW Session 3: Broad Heath Debate

Hold a debate!

In UK Parliament, MPs and members of the House of Lords use debates to discuss topics, hear different points of view and check and challenge the work of the Government.
They also listen to people’s real-life experiences to think about how laws are working and whether they could be improved.

Debate question: Do you think electricity should be limited to increase sustainability?

Breaking down each stage of a debating session:
• Put the children in teams of three
• Seat two teams together, one team debating ‘for’ and the other team debating ‘against’
• Have a timekeeper to make sure everyone has the same amount of time to get their points across
The ‘for’ team goes first. The first speaker from their team must:
• Define or explain any key words
• Introduce the team’s argument in favour of the topic • Begin the debate
The ‘against’ team goes next. The first speaker from their team must:
• Define or explain any key words
• Introduce the team’s argument against the topic being debated
• Rebuttal – they will put forward a set of reasons why the ‘for’ team’s argument is wrong
The second speakers from both teams take their turns next. They will:
• Continue their team’s points for or against and rebut or try to disprove the other team’s argument
The third speakers from each team go last. They will:
• Continue to rebut the opposition’s debate
• Conclude the debate, by summarising points in favour of their team’s argument

If we keep electricity limited, and keep on using the cars now, it will release smoke from its pipes at the back, which will cause ‍air pollution. Where we still have to fuel our cars and the gass will cause pollution, the electronic cars use battery not petrol or gas.

Electricity is a form of energy and we need for almost everything. Almost all of our modern conveniences are electrically powered.

Electricity is what lights up our classrooms, heats our homes and helps us to work..

87% of the globe have/need electricity. However, 13% of the globe live without electricity.

We also need electricity because if we are a nurse/doctor and they have a night shift with a limited electricity (up till 6 o’clock (with an emergency) what will happen to the patient.
    SAVE PEOPLE FROM DYING!
