2 Red visit Coventry City Centre

As part of our history learning, we visited the City Centre to find out a little more about Coventry and it’s history. We visited the Transport Museum and learned about the modes of transport through the ages that were produced in Coventry, explored town, learned about Lady Godiva and investigated the Medieval parts of Coventry. After eating our lunch, we visited the Herbert Art Gallery where we learned more about the history of Coventry and even visited an artist’s exhibition. What a great day we had!

The children were fantastic! We are so proud of you all 2 Red. A special thank you also to our fabulous parent helpers.

  • What was your favourite part of the day?
  • What kinds of transport did you see?
  • Why did Lady Godiva ride through the streets of Coventry?

My favourite part of the day was the Transport Museum because I like looking at cars.

I saw bicycles with big wheels, cars, buses, horse & cart. We saw a long rocket car which was the fastest in the world. We sat in the taxi.

Lady Godiva rode through the city on a horse to change her husbands mind about taking money from the people. He wanted to charge another tax to the people of coventry.

The people had agreed not to look at her as she rode past naked but one person couldn’t help it, Peeping Tom!
