3 Red’s Weathering and erosion Investigation

Today 3 Red learnt about different types of weathering. We carried out an investigation into which type of weathering causes the most erosion to chalk. For this experiment we had 4 different conditions; control, rain, ice and heat.

The children worked in groups to investigate the durability and structural integrity of the chalk by drawing and snapping them, we measured how much of the chalk crumbled away. Please watch our iMovie to see our predictions, investigation and the results.

What type of weathering causes the most erosion to the chalk? How do you know this? Comment below your answers.

Rain because it has water in the chalk

Probrly ice because if you snap it it is going to erosion and rain if you choose rain itl just stick

I know the rain chalk would erupted the quick because the temperature of rain has water and then you snap it then it will disintegrate easily

Rain because water is inside the chalk

I know the rain chalk erupted the most because water breaks chalk down. The chalk was breaking alot when we coloured with it. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐ŸŒŠ

Rain causes the most weathering to chalk. I know this because chalk is permeable and the rain can go into it and wash it away.
