In History this week, we have been exploring the Tudor’s family tree. We realised it would be very important for the Tudors to keep track of their family, as it helped them work out who was next in line to be king or queen! However, things can get very complicated in this family, especially with Henry VIII and all his wives!
Here is a copy of the Tudor family tree, including their cousins, the Stuarts, who ruled Scotland at the same time. Use the family tree to answer the questions below.
- How old was Henry VII when he became king?
- Which of Henry VIII’s wives did he divorce?
- Which monarch on the family tree has the shortest reign?
- How are Elizabeth of York and Elizabeth I related to each other?
- How are Mary I, Elizabeth I and Edward VI related to each other?
- Henry VIII had an older brother called Arthur – why didn’t he become king after Henry VII died?
- Why is James VI of Scotland also James I of England?
