Blitz Day in 2 Red

Today, the children went back in time to imagine what life was like in Coventry during World War 2. We acted out an air raid, created model air raid shelters, used our creative skills to make a silhouette of a Coventry skyline, learnt about how the bombing affected buildings and even observed how different building materials burn. The children came to school dressed in some fantastic costumes. Watch our video and take a look at the gallery to find out more.

The morning of the 14th of November 1940 was just like any other with no hint that anything ‘special’ was about to happen. Little did they know, the Germans had planned the devastating Operation ‘Moonlight Sonata’.

  • Why was the Cathedral bombed?
  • When we created our silhouette pictures, why did we use red, orange and yellow to colour the background?
  • What is a siren?
  • Why was it used during the war?
