5 Blue – What factors affect Water Resistance?

Today, we carried out an experiment to show how an object travels through water and how the shape of it has an impact of how fast it travels. Below are some pictures of you making your torpedos and the videos with final outcome to show which travelled the fast. Have a look and answer the questions below:-

What is water resistance?

What happened to the different torpedos and why?

How can you reduce the friction and make your object water resistance?

  1. Arhan S.

    1. Water résistance is similar to air resistance but unlike air particles there is water particles.
    2. Other torpedoes were slower because it was less streamlined or is not streamlined.
    3. We can reduce friction by making it streamlined. This can happen by making it thin and the end should be fin-shaped to make it go straight and hit the ground first.

    What is water resistance?
Water resistance is nearly like air resistance but it has water particles instead of air particles.
What happened to the different torpedo’s why?
The torpedo went at different times because all of them were different weights and some were streamlined and some were not that streamlined and they were different shapes and the end parts of the torpedo were all different.🙂

Water resistance are water particles and if you’re object is a streamline shape it will move through the water faster

Water resistance is the same as air resistance, but in water.
Mine was faster than Osas’s ,as mine was longer and more stronger,so is more streamlined.

    What is water resistance?
Water resistance is like water particles.
What happened to the different torpedo’s ?
They went at different time because of shape and weight.
