6R STEAM Week

This week children were challenged to work in their groups to set up a themed based new cafe at the top of Thorpes’s Cloud in Dovedale. Children started their week by researching about โ€˜The Summitโ€™, a cafe on the top of the Mount Snowdon in Wales. Moving on children, learnt about circulatory system and life styles factors that affect heart health. Children conducted pupil survey to find out peopleโ€™s choices. Using their results from the survey, children created a menu and designed a healthy recipe, which is the most cost effective. 6R focused on a specific famous food scientist (Heston Blumenthalโ€™ , in order to learn about how can we use science when making food. It was fun making a food product, decided based on market survey. In their groups, children produced a small, scaled model of their restaurant using shoe boxes. Thinking about all the information gathered this week, children decided their own logo and slogan to advertise their cafe.
