We learned about the practice of “Shinto” and how it is Japan’s largest religion. It was first followed 2000 years ago, by no founder. Did you know 80% of Japan’s population follows Shinto! Shinto means “The Way Of Kami” and kami is spiritual energy. The artist we learned about (Sayaka Ganz) implies her religion (Shinto) into her art. She gives disowned items like plastic into sculptures giving them a home. The practice of Shinto reduces plastic waste which is good for the environment. We also learned about Japan’s many industries these include Food, Automobiles, Iron Making and Electronics. Did you know 30% of Japan’s pollution comes from industries and 19% of that is Steel making and the Iron industury.

The values that we had to use when making this sculpture were: teamwork, perseverance and kindness.
