Lesson 3: Social Geography in Japan (Buddhism)

Today year 6 used a range of artefacts and books to learn about faiths in Japan. One of the oldest religions is Buddhism- children were asked to create a double page spread about the origins of the faith, the principles and different symbols within the Buddhist faith.

    What values do Buddhist live by?
    The values that Buddhists live by are love,wisdom,goodness, calmness and self – control.

    How does Buddhism compare to other faiths?
    Comparison- between Buddhism and Christianity .

    Fun fact:
    Approximately, of 360 million followers Buddhism is the fourth largest religion in the world.

    What values do Buddhist live by?
    Buddhists believe that the human life is one of suffering, and that meditation, spiritual and physical labor, and good behavior are the ways to achieve enlightenment, or nirvana.

    How does Buddhism compare to your faith?
    There are inherent and fundamental differences between Buddhism and Christianity, one significant difference being that while Christianity is at its core monotheistic and relies on a God as a Creator.
