Can 5 Blue solve the crime?

5 Blue turned into investigators today! Poor Susan was murdered and 5 Blue had to find out who had done it! They used Chromatography, a scientific technique used by CSI technicians. It is used to separate the components, parts, of a mixture. The unknown or suspicious mixture is separated by letting it move over a surface.

5 Blue took to testing this paper Chromatography. The 4 suspects had a favourite black pen, at the scene the pen was in water and didn’t separate. 5 Blue had to test these pens, by marking the paper towel, dipping it in water and then waiting to see if it separated or not.

Who did you suspect?

I was right with my answer that David committed the crime of murdering Susan.
The evidence my table found is that his favourite pen’s colour didn’t separate, and he was jealous of her. The fingerprint also matched him and overall the biggest clue was the blood stain on his clothing!

I suspected that David committed the crime as he was jealous of Susan.
I was correct and found out that David did commit the crime.
I found out that the colour of David’s favourite pen did not separate which made me suspicious.
I looked at a piece of fabric that looked like the colour of David’s clothing. I also saw that it had stains on it that looked like blood.
When we looked at the fingerprints it was David’s fingerprint that matched what fingerprint was found.
This meant that David did commit the crime as all the clues matched to David.
