    What Is a Canal?
    An artificial waterway constructed to allow the passage of boats or ships inland or to convey water for irrigation.
    How long is it?
    The canal basin is a bent rectangle, 917 ft (280 metres) long, 110 ft (33.5 meters) wide and 18 feet deep.
    Why are Canals now used for?
    They are used for tours and somtimes transportation.

    An artifical waterway constructed to allow the passage of boats or ships.

    How long is the canal?
    Longest canal in the UK is the Ground Union Canal, stretching 137 miles from London to Birmingham.

    Is it a man-made feature?
    Buildings, bridges , railroad tracks, and monuments are all human – made features.

    How were canals used originally?
    The canals allowed raw materials to be transported to place manufacturers and finished goods to be transported to consumers, more quickly.

    How are canals being used now?
    These days canals are more used for leisure than for transporting goods and services.
