Fire Service Visit Year 4

Today we have been lucky enough to have a visit from the local fire service.
They explained different services which they carry out.

Fire

We were shown a video of a bedroom fire and estimated how long it takes to burn and how the fire brigade would put this fire out. It is important not to try and tackle the fire yourselves. Why?

What can fire do to us?
What comes of the fire?
Where is the best place to be in the event of a fire and why?
What life saving information did you learn today?

Smoke Alarms

What does it mean if a smoke alarm is beeping?
Where should smoke alarms be fitted?
Why are alarms not fitted in a bathroom or a kitchen?

Fire escape plan

What is the safest way of escaping a fire?
Why should your downstairs doors be kept shut at bedtime?
Where should you keep the front door keys? Why?
Why is it important to keep your house tidy?
What should you do if you find a fire?

Speak clearly

Ask for the fire service

Give your address and postcode if you know it.

    1. We can’t tackle the fire because we don’t have fire tools.
2.Go down if it is up and call 999.
3.Because a fire can start downstairs and no smoke can go to other rooms and you can breathe it in.
