Flat Stan First Aid- 5 White

Today we took part in a first aid workshop.

We can all help in the event of an accident. First aid is the first things we do if we see an accident. If we see an accident the first things you must do are:

Check for danger, you must not put yourself in danger . D

Check it is safe to continue.

Approach your casualty checking for response . R

Tap the casualty on the shoulders and talk to the casualty, ask if you can help.

What responses do we look for?

Check the airway. A.

Chech for breathing. B How can you check for breathing?

How long do you check breathing for and why?

Call for help . C

What are the emergency numbers?
How could others help you?

.How to deal with chocking

How to deal with choking

.
Hopefully coughing will help to remove the object. A casualty can not talk or breath properly.
First give 5 firm back slips.
If still no response give 5 abdominal thrusts. If it still hasn’t cleared give 5 more abdominal thrusts. The casualty must alway see a doctor after treatment.
If the casualty goes unconscious then start CPR.

How to deal with a bleed.
Put pressure on the bleed and elevate if possible.

How to deal with burns.
Put the area under the cold tap for at least 20 mins. Keep a check on the time. Flood the area with cold water.
Don’t put anything on a burn. Go to hospital in server cases .

Cardiac arrest is when someone has stopped breathing.

What things in the home are dangerous?
Why must you not touch a casualty if electricity is evident?
What is the most sensitive part of your body to check for breathing ?
How do you deal with a nose bleed?
What can you do to help with a bruise?

R)Responses we might have are breathing by their mouth, breathing by the ear, eye contact , movement.
    B) you check the breathing for 10 seconds because they might breathe later on and gives enough time.
    C)The emergency numbers are
    England:999
    Europe:221
    America:911
And a big one if you don’t know if you press the switch off button (I think) 5 times it should show the SOS sign which can call for help.
Others can help if you don’t know the numbers ask someone to call for medical help. or if your on the road ask them to stop cars.
The things that are dangerous :
Sharp objects (like on a table edge)
    Knife

The plug you should switch it off first. So you won’t get electrocuted.
    The nose at the top.
Pinch your nose from the top and tilt your head down.(looking at the floor)
If you have a bruise get a first aid kit depending on the injury You light need a plaster 🩹 a bandage and oil(I think) to get rid of any infections.
