Science Week 2023 in 1 White!

Monday

This morning we have been looking at insects!
Did you know all insects have 3 sections to their bodies?
In the comments can you tell me what they are?
H____ Th_____ Ab______

We went outside and went on a mini-beast hunt! We were a little bit disappointed as we didn’t find many insects but here’s what we did fine!

After play time we were visited by Mrs Raja-Khan and we looked at position and direction!
Our focus today was turns. We played some really fun playground games like Simon says, what’s the time Mr wolf and looked at our left and right.

In the afternoon we switched it up and looked at mammals! We tried to categorise different mammals into carnivore, omnivore and herbivore. in the comments can you tell me what those words mean?
To help us we looked at….

POO!

Have a look at our video to see how we got on!

Who can tell me what a carnivore is?

Tuesday

Today’s focus has been…

BIRDS

In the comments tell me 3 features that birds have.

This morning we went bird watching we looked for lots of different birds that we could easily find in our gardens (or our school!)

We also tried our hands at making nests:

After play time we had another look into position and direction. Today we focused on left and right.

Who can tell me which bird has the biggest beak?

Which bird has the smallest beak?

Which bird was your favourite?

Wednesday

Today we looked at Amphibians! We created some really cool frog puppets!

Images to come.

Thursday

Today we have been looking at reptiles!

We have explored why snakes and other reptiles shed their skin! In the comments can you tell me why?

    Monday: Head, thorax and abdomen.
Tuesday: 3 features of birds are that they have wings, beaks and feathers.
Thursday: Snakes and reptiles shred their skin so they can grow, if they do not they could get poorly.
It was a fun week, thank you.
