What have we been up to this week in RW?

We are continuing our topic of ‘All About Me’ as well continuing to settle into our new routines and structures. This week our work is based around the story ‘Kipper’s Toybox’ by Mick Inkpen. Please take a look at our learning below and comment on what your favourite part of the week was.😊

Communication and Language-To talk about our favourite toys.

We shared the story ‘Kippers Toy box’ and thought about our own favourite toys from either home or school.

Literacy-To emergent write about a new toy for Kipper.

After sharing the story ‘Kippers Toy box’ we identified that poor Kipper lost a toy! We thought about what new toy Kipper might like and tried to write it down using recognisable letters.

Maths – Shape, space, measures and pattern. To create a repeating pattern.
We developed our repeated pattern knowledge by continuing a simple related pattern. We then made our own two colour repeating pattern.

Maths – Mastering Number. To quantify sets of objects by subitising.

Understanding of the world– To sort toys according to old and new.

We looked at lots of different toys. Some of them were old and some of them were new. We worked in small groups to sort them into old and new.

Expressive Art and Design –To sing in a group or on their own, increasingly matching pitch and following melody.

PSED – To know why it’s important to brush our teeth.

SMSC-To know about the different groups we belong to.

Library- Enjoying some special story time.
