2Blue – Riddles and Poems

As part of our new English learning, Year 2 are learning all about Riddles and Poems.
We listened to, read and performed some poems, using expression, intonation and hand gestures. When performing our poems to the class, we learnt the importance of speaking clearly, with confidence to our audience.

Now listen to some poems by Michael Rosen.

Which was your favourite poem and why?

What have you learnt about poems?

How can you make performing a poem more exciting?

I have learnt about poems that sometimes poems can be silly but some are not silly.
Poems can also have rhyming words in them. Poems can be written in shapes and patterns like someone writing in a shape of a apple and they write the poem around the apple and inside to make an apple shape.
