We have been so lucky to have had a wonderful visit from the author Mark Lowery. Many children are familiar with his book The Jam Doughnut That Ruined My Life. Mark began the day with an assembly for Year 3, 4 and 5. In this assembly children were shown by Mark that they are masters of their own universe when they write. They control the world and characters and he shared some wonderful demonstrations to do this. The children really loved this experience.
After the assembly children in Year 3, 4 and 5 had a writing workshop where they created their own doughnut inspired stories.

Children were given the opportunity to purchase some of his books and in the afternoon he worked with some children in year 1 and 2.

Children can you tell me one thing you learnt from Mark?

What was the best part of his visit?

I learnt that when you write a book you can do whatever you want.
I liked when we wrote our own stories because then we did what are imagination told us to do
