This half term we are learning about the Ancient Greeks. The Ancient Greeks started the Olympic games in 776 BC.

Can you become an Olympic mathlete and complete our challenges?

We look forward to reading your answers in your homework books. Make them colourful and exciting.

If the first Olympic games began in 776 BC and the modern games began in 1896, how long was it before the original games were modernised?

Silver

If an Olympic athlete runs 1500m every day for a year, how far has he run? Answer in metres, km and miles.

The Olympic Games are held every 4 years – count in multiples from 2012 in order to identify future games. Will there be an Olympic Games in 3018? 4012? 7134? Discuss.

    The ancient games were staged in Olympia Greece , from 776 BC
    through 393 AD , 1503 years for the Olympics to return and the first modern Olympics in 1896.

    It was 1120 years later when original games were modernised.

    1500 x 365 = 547500
    Metres = 547500m
    547500 / 1000
    Km = 547.5 Km

    Gold

    3018 = There will not be an Olympic games in 3018

    It would be 1503 years.From ancient to modern the first olympic games were staged in olympia 776 BC to 393 AD which then makes it 1503 years together.
    Silver:
    He would have traveled at least 14km-18km and 1400km-1800km
    Gold:
    In Paris, France, from 26 July to 11 August 2024.
    In Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, in Italy, in 2026.
    In Los Angeles, USA, in 2028.
    In Brisbane, Australia, in 2032.
    So, no there will not be an olympic game in 3018 4012 7134.
    Platinum:
    So if you see my gold challenge you will see there might be only 4 games before 2050.
